Internal Mobility at Precisely with Rashmi Acharya

Rashmi Acharya joined the company 11 years ago and, through our internal mobility program, has moved into her new role as a Software Development Manager. Here’s what she had to say.
What excites you about your new role at Precisely?
I feel very fortunate that our company culture supports these types of internal moves. For one’s self, it’s best to follow your passion and turn your dream into a reality. I’m excited to learn new people management and leadership skills after excelling on the technical and product side of things. I get to serve my people and customers by bringing new changes and improvements for overall growth to the product and company.
What was your last role with the company and how did you prepare for your current role?
As a Principle Software Engineer, I had taken the lead and ownership of Customer Success and Engagement. Having a good grasp on the product and customers as well as having clear vision of the product roadmap have helped me to excel in this new role. I am humbled that everyone agreed and provided me with an opportunity when position opened up.
The foundational skills I developed as an L3 Engineer, CI/CD Fixpack delivery and Software development teams prepared me for this next challenge. I had a good opportunity by becoming a ‘Change Champion’ inside of the R&D group and spent that time to build internal relationships within the company.
What motivated you to apply for your new role?
The job opening came to me and I took a chance at it. For many years, I have observed people managers and how business decisions were made during difficult situations and I felt ready to take on a management role. I’m also lucky to have support from family and friends to concentrate and achieve my career dreams and goals.

How is the company helping you advance and succeed in your role?
I have a lot of mentors inside and outside of the organization who bring the best out of me. I’m currently in the learning phase and am focusing on key skills to grow in this path. There are tons of opportunity and exposure all around considering the openness and transparency we have built within the Precisely culture.
What advice would you give someone who is looking to move to a new opportunity within the company?
Make the day count, instead of counting the days. Don’t complain about things, instead look for opportunities and growth by surrounding yourself with positivity and people.
